ABOUT THIS CONCERT
Starting in 2024, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra (MCO) will take over the Artistic Direction of the renowned Musikwoche Hitzacker for five years. Titled, aus Leidenschaft (Out of Passion) the festival's 38th edition will reflect the MCO's own passion for music and their wish to engage in an active dialogue with audiences and the festival itself.
Have you always wanted to know what it is like at an MCO rehearsal? To sit among the musicians, as if you were yourself part of the orchestra? This interactive format allows the audience to be "close-up" to the MCO musicians, in the audience and on-stage, allowing one to witness the ins and outs of a rehearsal. Watch the musicians perform, feel them breathe, and listen to the music from a different perspective.
The participants will first hear a piece from this night's concert programme (the Opening Concert "Sturm und Drang"); subsequently, they will be asked to pick, among the orchestra's instruments, those that they would like to listen to again with a specific theme or a part of the composition just heard. You would like to know what a viola sounds like, combined with a trombone? This is your chance.
There is no entrance fee, but registration is required via Musikwoche Hitzacker, here.
