ABOUT THIS CONCERT
Starting in 2024, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra (MCO) will take over the Artistic Direction of the renowned Musikwoche Hitzacker for five years. Titled, aus Leidenschaft (Out of Passion) the festival's 38th edition will reflect the MCO's own passion for music and their wish to engage in an active dialogue with audiences and the festival itself.
Hildegar Niebuhr joined the first violin section of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra in summer 2019 following her time as an academist at the Deutsches Sinfonieorchester Berlin.
She receives regular invitations to play with other orchestras, such as The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, MDR Leipzig, Deutsches Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Ensemble Resonanz and the Philharmonisches Orchester der Hansestadt Lübeck, in addition to her work in chamber music with various different ensembles.
Moritz Weigert has won various awards as a chamber musician, including the 'Highly Commended' at the Parkhouse Award 2021 in the prestigious Wigmore Hall and a second prize at the international competition of the 'Società Umanitaria di Milano' 2021. Moritz has also played with many different orchestras including the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam and Staatskapelle Dresden, and was a member of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester.
In 2017 he was chosen as member of the academy of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and has played under the baton of conductors such as Herbert Blomstedt, Gustavo Dudamel, Christoph Eschenbach, Daniele Gatti, Daniel Harding, Mariss Jansons and Franz Welser-Möst. In 2022, he joined the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
Asen Tanchev won the international Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in Moscow at the age of fifteen. He captivates the audience with his warm and intimate sound and temperamental presence in prestigious concert halls of the world. Asen is also an avid chamber musician, performing in various formations from duo up to nonet at renowned festivals, among which Oberstdorfer Musiksommer, Franconian Music Days Alzenau, „V. Spivakov“ International Music Festival, Moscow, International Chamber Music Festival „Musica Mundi“, Belgium, „Apollonia“ Festival of Arts, Sozopol, Sofia Music Weeks.
