The Mahler Chamber Orchestra gGmbH is looking to appoint as soon as possible a:

BOOKKEEPER/ACCOUNTANT Part-time (up to 20 hours/week)

The Mahler Chamber Orchestra (MCO) was founded in 1997 based on the shared vision of being a free and international ensemble, dedicated to creating and sharing exceptional experiences in classical music. The MCO works as a "nomadic collective" with 45 members spanning 20 different countries at its core. It is governed collectively by its management team with offices in Berlin and the orchestra board; decisions are made democratically with the participation of all musicians.

Main Responsibilities:
  • - As a bookkeeper/accountant, you are responsible for the entire accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial accounting, as well as for the settlement of artistic fees/projects/public funds
    - Processing of payment transactions
    - Accompaniment of external audits
    - Communication with the tax advisor and bank
    - Preparation of the monthly and quarterly tax statements and reports in cooperation with the tax advisor
    - Preparatory payroll and personnel administration
    - Cost accounting and preparation of evaluations

Experience, skills & competencies:
  • - Completed training as a financial accountant, tax clerk or equivalent professional training
    - Ideally, several years of practical experience as a bookkeeper
    - Existing knowledge of the DATEV applications accounting, payment transactions and cost accounting, as well as with MS Excel
    - Fluent in German and English; other languages an advantage
    - Precise and reliable work
    - Personal responsibility and ability to work in a team
    - Industry experience and knowledge of artist taxation is an advantage, not a requirement
    - Knowledge of public funding is an advantage
