ABOUT THIS CONCERT
Two hundred years separate the cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach, performed here, and Maurice Ravel's setting of Stéphane Mallarmé's poetry. And yet, there is much that connects the life and musical worlds of both composers, revealing unexpected relationships between their works. Harpsichordist Elina Albach and radio journalist Christoph Heinemann guide the audience through the fascinating revelations of this program. Our violoncellist and founding member Philipp von Steinaecker, who is also an internationally renowned conductor, will lead the orchestra in this unique concert.
