June 2024
The Mahler Chamber Orchestra's 2024 residency at the Schlossfestspiele Ludwigsburg Festival brings together conductor Anja Bihlmaier and violinist Renaud Capuçon. The programme focuses on Romantics, Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms. Both Schumann's Violin Concerto and Brahms Symphony No. 4 provoked controversial reactions at the time. Whilst Schumann's concerto was hidden away in the back of a cupboard as the work of a madman, Brahms' symphony spread like wildfire as progressive orchestral music.
Complimenting this concert is, Welcome Home: a concert about finding the place where you belong. This concert format invites school groups on a multicultural journey, fostering introspection and contemplation on the theme of "Belonging". These endeavours highlight the MCO's commitment to enriching lives through music and promoting inclusivity.
