ABOUT THIS CONCERT
The Mahler Chamber Orchestra reunites with conductor Gustavo Dudamel on this tour for performances in favourite European venues. The MCO was last heard in Cologne in September 2017 and has a very close connection to this city. In addition to Mahler Chamber Orchestra performances in Cologne, the MCO Academy performs in the Kölner Philharmonie each year.
On this programme Franz Schubert’s youthful and sunny Third Symphony pairs with the outwardly playful Fourth Symphony of Gustav Mahler, an especially fitting repertoire for the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Gustavo Dudamel, as each exemplifies youthful spirit and energy in their music making.
South African rising-star soprano Golda Schultz joins the orchestra for Mahler’s Fourth Symphony in G major.
