The Mahler Chamber Orchestra and its Artistic Partner Pekka
Kuusisto, along with the musicians of the MCO Academy, invite you into a parallel
world where time is transcended, boundaries become blurred, roles are reversed
and rules remain at the door.
Shapeshifters blends eras and styles into an unbroken experience,
enhanced by Desirée van Gelderen’s lighting designs and Jorinde Keesmaat‘s
staging. This multi-sensory performance alters the audience’s perceptions and
challenges the musicians to think about their role on, off, and maybe even around
the stage.
Pekka Kuusisto’s Artistic Partnership with the MCO has always challenged conventions and led the Orchestra towards new creative frontiers with his open and curious approach. That’s why he is the perfect match for this new generation of musicians from the MCO Academy.
