SALZBURG EASTER FESTIVAL

April 2025

Although Salzburg has been one of our regular and much-cherished concert cities for many years, the MCO’s last participation in the Easter Festival dates back to 1998. We are very happy to be back! In line with this year's festival motto, "Wounds and Wonders," Maxim Emelyanychev will conduct a performance of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's oratorio "Elijah," where we will join forces with the Bavarian Radio Chorus.

Our second concert will be a double premiere: For the first time, the MCO will be playing under the baton of Gianandrea Noseda, interpretingShostakovich’s enigmatic 9th Symphony, and the performance of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto will be our first collaboration with violinist Augustin Hadelich. We are very much looking forward to sharing the stage with these two wonderful musicians.
