The Mahler Chamber Orchestra, side-by-side with Musicians of the MCO Academy at Orchesterzentrum | NRW, perform two Beethoven symphonies with Artistic Advisor Daniele Gatti in Essen, Dortmund and Cologne.
These two works come from Beethoven's middle period, defined by a burgeoning individual style and a growing mastery over harmony and form. It was a time of transition, of understanding and realizing his full potential, not unlike these Academy musicians, who perform these works on the cusp of their professional careers with MCO musicians as their guides.
Since 2009, the MCO has been training the next generation of orchestral musicians in this way, sharing their knowledge through the MCO Academy, drawing together talented musicians from across the world for a week of intensive coaching and workshops in partnership with Orchesterzentrum|NRW in Dortmund, before performing alongside their MCO mentors.
