ABOUT THIS CONCERT
Since the foundation of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra (LFO) by Claudio Abbado in 2003, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra has traditionally formed the core of this ensemble. In 2024, the LFO will present three concerts during the festival's Spring edition, as well as another five in the first week of the Summer Festival in August.
Following the successful joint performance of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony in the summer of 2021, the orchestra and its chief conductor Riccardo Chailly are now devoting themselves to the composer's first two symphonies. The programme is complemented by Beethoven's well-known Coriolan Overture, which immediately captivates the listener's attention with its dramatic and narrative character.
