ABOUT THIS CONCERT
Broadcast Date:
Live on 28 August 2018 at 19:30 on medici.tv
The Mahler Chamber Orchestra returns to Lucerne again this August for its summer residency at the Lucerne Summer Festival.
With this concert, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra continues its exploration of music closely linked to Austro-Hungarian musical traditions. As the meeting place and melting pot for different European cultures, Central Europe has facilitated, in many ways, the formation of a European identity. This journey, which began with the MCO concert at the Lucerne Festival 2017 and continued in the season following, and was developed together with conductor François-Xavier Roth. 2018 Lucerne Festival artiste étoile Sol Gabetta joins the orchestra for a performance of Martinů’s Cello Concerto no. 1, H 196.
