Featuring Mozart's Piano Concertos Nos. 20–22 directed by Andsnes from the piano, Mozart Momentum 1785 documents the first part of our ongoing collaboration exploring the two most creative years in Mozart's career.
As well as these three concerti, recorded at Berlin's Philharmonie last November, the release also features the Piano Quartet No. 1, where Andsnes is joined by MCO Concertmaster Matthew Truscott and MCO Principals Joel Hunter and Frank-Michael Guthmann.
Completing the programme is Mozart's Masonic Funeral Music, led by Truscott and representing the first time that the MCO appears on record in this self-directed format.
