August 2022
Since 2003, when Claudio Abbado formed his own orchestra of players hand-picked from Europe's best ensembles, the MCO has formed the core of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, which performs at the 2022 summer edition with music director Riccardo Chailly and conductor Jakub Hrusa.
This August, LFO will bring four programmes spanning a diverse range of repertoire, from the romantic to the contemporary. Theming the festival with ‘Diversity’, it wants to make a plea for genuine diversity in classical music by including composers and performers from all walks of life.
