ABOUT THIS CONCERT
This concert has been cancelled due to regulations implemented in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Poised and precise, elegant and immaculate – these are just some of the words that have been used to describe the performances of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and our Artistic Partner Mitsuko Uchida. Four years after our first tour together in Japan, we return to share our celebrated approach to Mozart's piano concertos once again.
From Sapporo down to Hyogo, these two weeks bring the MCO's signature approach to audiences across the entire country, and feature two performances at Tokyo's renowned Suntory Hall.
This concert in Yokohoma is shaped around Mozart's Piano Concertos No. 17, with its birdsong-inspired themes, and No. 22, which introduces the rich tones of the clarinet into the dialogue, these two works framing Janáček's sextet Mládí for the MCO's winds alone.
