ABOUT THIS CONCERT
The MCO and Artistic Advisor Daniele Gatti concluded their highly acclaimed cycle of Beethoven symphonies in 2016. On this tour, they revisit this familiar territory with Beethoven’s Second and Sixth Symphonies. Violinist Christian Tetzlaff joins them for Berg’s Violin Concerto: written upon the death of Manon Gropius, the young daughter of Alma Mahler and Walter Gropius, this piece is dedicated “To the Memory of an Angel”.
This performance marks the third and final concert of the MCO’s residency at this year’s Festival de Saint-Denis, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this summer.
