Séverine Peter

Director of Artistic Planning

Biography

Séverine Peter has always had a keen interest in learning and speaking different languages (she grew up speaking French and German), traveling to and living in different countries, getting to know different cultures and, of course, music. Starting at the MCO in February 2019 in the Artistic Planning department, therefore, felt like a perfect match and the logical next step in her professional career.

Having played the violin for several years, Séverine decided to pursuit this for leisure only, though the professional work backstage always fascinated her. Séverine studied International Arts Management, which combined her personal interests at a professional level, and has gotten to know the different aspects of cultural institutions and the classical music industry through her different work experiences in the past few years.

Séverine worked, amongst others, for the Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, Rundfunkchor Berlin, Bundesjugendorchester as well as an artist agency in London, where she was mainly in charge of managing conductors. Most recently, Séverine worked for the Gürzenich-Orchester Köln alongside General Music Director and Chief Conductor François-Xavier Roth. At Gürzenich-Orchester Köln, she was in charge of implementing long-term strategies, overarching communication with different partners, conception and realisation of new project ideas and concert formats as well as consulting and supporting the General Music Director in all strategic and operational issues.

Séverine is very happy to now be part of the MCO’s Artistic Planning team, where she is able to make use of her extensive professional experience in order to support the MCO in its further development in being – and staying – a unique, artistically high-level and inspiring ensemble.
