The MCO and Artistic Advisor Daniele Gatti concluded their highly acclaimed cycle of Beethoven symphonies in 2016. On this tour, they briefly revisit this familiar territory with Beethoven’s Second and Sixth Symphonies. Violinist Christian Tetzlaff joins them for Berg’s Violin Concerto: written upon the death of Manon Gropius, the young daughter of Alma Mahler and Walter Gropius, this piece is dedicated “To the Memory of an Angel”.
This tour takes the MCO to Dresden, where it will be performing at the annual Dresden Music Festival, as well as to Saint-Denis, for the third concert of its residency at the Festival de Saint-Denis.
